Why are some people so rude?

So my friend asked a question, and got a SUPER rude response, that was condescending and made her feel like the world's stupidest person. Don't you think these people should be suspended from answering questions? I mean, if you wanted a rude response, you'd go to the "mean girl" at school, right? -__- jeebus, internet bullies these days.
