How do you communicate with a Taurus male in person?

I've been dating this Taurus male for a month now (Moon and Venus in Aries, if that helps at all). I am a Capricorn female (Moon in Libra. Venus in Scorpio). We get a long pretty good, communicate everyday and see each other at least 1-2 times a week. I find that when we are on the phone, texting or chatting online he is extremely engaging and attentive. But in person he seems to be distant/closed in and has a short attention span. I brought it to up to him and he said that he does have a short attention span and it is something that he wants to work on. In the meantime any advice because although I am patient ...at times I find myself being annoyed with this aspect of our dating. He has a lot of the qualites that I am looking for in a potential partner and I want to see where this can go. He has made it clear that he wants to date exclusively and we have and that he takes his time and is cautious. For me it's important, when getting to know someone, that the lines of communication are open whether you're around each other or not. What should I do?
