go to your local pool or billiard shop. Nice entry level to mid-grade stick, chances are small billiard shop will sell mcDermott or viking. make sure shop owner knows you're buying a a gift and what ever you buy you can come back and upgrade, downgrade, get a different weight or color..If shop unwilling to do this - find another shop...
