Does the doctor have a good reason for this? Possible molestation?

A cardiologist shouldn't be checking your for lumps not while he's checking your heart rate.He should have one hand on the stethescope and the other on your back.You should not of been lying down.When someone checks you for (as you well know they tend to check each quickly and you would know the difference.I would find out who to report this to and find another physician to go to.
